Description

Can be used in tubs, pots, hanging baskets and beds where moisture retention and good percolation is required. Can even be used on the garage roof if you want to really impress the neighbours!  Peat free. Intensive green roofs tend to have grasses, ground covers, flowers, shrubs and even trees.

The intensive green roof uses planting mediums that have greater depth than the extensive green roof.  The deeper soil allows intensive roofs to accommodate large plants. Intensive green roofs require more maintenance than extensive green roofs because of the plant varieties they will support.

Vegetable and herb gardens fit in well on these rooftops with fewer pests and weeds finding their way up to the top.  Intensive green roofs need to be watered more often. The planting depth is from approximately 6 inches plus.

The bulk bag contains approximately 1 cubic metre (1,000 litres).

FAQ's

How much green roof substrate is in the bulk bag?

There is approximately 1 cubic metre or 1,000 litres or 950kg in a bulk bag.

When will my delivery be made?

You can select a delivery date that suits you on the checkout page of our website. Economy delivery is within 2-3 working days.  We offer a Next Day service (£15)  if your order is placed before 12pm.  Natural Grower products will be dispatched Next Day if ordered before 12pm.  Please note that VegTrug and Shire products have different lead times – you will be contacted directly by the supplier to book your delivery date.

What is the minimum order?

The minimum order is one bulk bag or 25 small bags (25L).

Is delivery free?

Delivery to local areas such as Leicestershire and Northamptonshire is free.   Most of the delivery charge is included in the price.  If there is a delivery surcharge to your address, it will be shown at check out.  The charge is per bulk bag or pallet of small bags and is based on your postcode.  We also provide alternative delivery options for some products. You will be notified at checkout where applicable.

Is it sterilised?

No unless you request it. Generally, we find that sterilisation kills off beneficial microorganism essential for soil health. If you do require sterilised soil, please see this product here.

Does the soil have stones in it?

Yes, but only small ones as all the larger stones are removed.  Some stones in the soil are important for good drainage, soil aeration and prevention of topsoil compaction.
